Space Test Program is a sonic journey into uncharted realms, a debut project that defies easy categorization and drifts into both the unknown and the internal. A sound program designed to test the farthest reaches of audio into outer space, the project paradoxically suggests a more introspective exploration. Through melting, mutating sounds that collapse and evolve unpredictably, Space Test Program’s music inhabits a world all its own—one where the final destination is always in flux.
Formed by Nancy Samara (Vocals, Drums, Drum Machine), Piaka Roela (Guitar) and Tania Pomar (Synthesizer, Post-production), the project emerged organically from a shared love of experimentation. The self-titled EP is a collage of abstract sounds born from improvisation, where each member brought their own unique perspective to the table.

“We met through mutual connections in the music scene,” Tania Pomar recalls. “I met Piaka at Centro Cultural Border, and we hit it off immediately. When I met Samara at one of my live outings as Doreem, I was already a fan of her project Pura Basura del Sistema, so I knew we had to jam. We all agreed, and the chemistry was instant.” The three found an effortless connection, allowing their creative process to unfold naturally, without restrictions or expectations.
Piaka describes the collaboration as a convergence of energies: “Three entities coincide in space and time to add sound to the chaotic landscape of CDMX,” she says, referencing the sometimes suffocating city where their project took shape.
Nancy echoes the sentiment, adding, “Tania and I met at a Valis Ortiz expo, and we decided to jam with Piaka. There was a certain randomness to it—while at the same time our senses aligned for this moment. The jam flowed effortlessly, and once Tania took charge of the edits and production of the sounds we recorded on my mobile phone, we all knew we had created something interesting.”
Space Test Program’s music isn’t just about sound; it’s about the process, the experience, and the unexpected strangeness that arises when three independent and adventurous artists come together to create something that transcends the boundaries of genre. Their debut EP, is an invitation to explore the limitless possibilities of this sound encounter—both external and internal.
