Antiguo Autómata Mexicano follows his much lauded Kraut Slut with a new ep. The new tracks are an analogous mixture of kraut, minimalist tech and free jazz. The extensive EP also features remixes from Latinsizer, Cubenx and LOD and contributions from drummer Carlos Icaza. Antiguo Autómata Mexicano has previously released music on the German Background label and on Static Discos.
The man behind Antiguo Autómata Mexicano, Ángel Sánchez Borges, is also the man behind the abstract electronic pop project Seekers Who Are Lovers. Pitchforkmedia has raved about Antiguo Autómata Mexicano’s previous album: “an evocative sampling of the potential of computer-based minimalism with a handful of fantastic tracks; considered along with Borges’ other recent work, the record makes him seem an even more compelling artist worth following closely”.
“What on earth, for example, is happening in “Jukebox Essentiele”? After listening to it about 75 times (this one actually hooked me right away), only one thing is certain: it’s sexy, and I’m not talking about Jan Jelinek’s clicky bedroom eyes, but heaving, sweaty, full-bodied lust. Everything else is sort of a mystery. Is it fast or slow?” – M. R. NEWMARK (POP MATTERS).
